WINE AUCTIONEER
Wine auctions are a new attraction for passengers offered aboard some cruise ships. The auctions are run in a similar way to shipboard art auctions and land based auctions, with the wine auctioneer giving a brief talk on each piece prior to starting the bidding. Candidates must be clean cut, responsible, money motivated, sales driven and able to stay onboard a cruise ship for minimum of 4 months long contract. Wine knowledge is a plus, but the company provides 1 to 2 weeks land based training followed by 30 to 60 days hands on training aboard a cruise ship.Once the auctioneers have been thoroughly trained they are responsible for managing and operating their own vessel. Good clear English is a must, as they must speak and communicate in front of groups of people. Earnings are based on fixed salary plus commission (3,000 to 6,000 USD per month). Photos must accompany all applications.
